Yes! We love having dogs join us. In some cases we may need to work around specific dates to keep the dog-to-human ratio in check. Please send a quick message when you register to let us know about your furry friend. We will do our best to accommodate everyone. Anyone that has concerns about being around a dog and/or allergies should also get in touch so we can figure out a solution.
No. We know these people are incredibly important and make you feel safe. Travelling and attending a program without them may be a huge challenge and perhaps a barrier for some. One of the goals of our retreats is to encourage independence and promote social interaction with new people. If you don't think that you're ready for this you are probably not giving yourself enough credit! It may not be easy but it will be worth it.
FYI - retreats for couples and families is on our radar. One thing at a time they tell me....
Maybe. We will do our best to accommodate everyone. If there is space to do so, and the timing works out, we will make changes as requested but there are no guarantees. A great deal of planning goes into these retreats well in advance so we are not always able to be flexible. Once you are registered please consider this a commitment and a priority.
Unfortunately we do not. Only meals and accommodations are included. We suggest you submit for reimbursement through My VAC and/or speak to your caseworker. RCMP need to make this request to the detachment unit.
Accommodations vary retreat to retreat based on which bookings we were able to secure. Typically you will share a small cottage with 3-4 other participants. Cottages will not be co-ed. There are a variety of layouts in each cottage so you may end up with a king size bed or a bunk bed - ain't that fun?! Again, we will try to make the best arrangement taking everyone's needs into account. Room assignment details will be discussed with you well before you arrive. Feel free to include any special requests or deal breakers in an email prior to registration.
